Mark 2:1-5
When he returned to Capernaum after some days, it was reported that he was at home. So many gathered around that there was no longer room for them, not even in front of the door; and he was speaking the word to them. Then some people came, bringing to him a paralyzed man, carried by four of them. And when they could not bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him; and after having dug through it, they let down the mat on which the paralytic lay. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven.”
Today, we need the reporters
who will broadcast the stories
of those who are overlooked
Reporters who will make honest dramas
of others’ perspectives
We hear the lies of government
all too loudly
We hear the outrage of those who profit
from misfortune clearly
We hear the squirming of those whose intentions
were questionable
We need reporters who will cut through the noise
and share what is really happening
and encourage others to come and see
and to get on board
Highlighting the potential of the many
to challenge the decisions of the few
effecting justice
holding out the potential for healing
A possibility when all the stories are told and heard
We need the reporters, the broadcasters
and the dramatists today
along with friends who don’t give up
to begin the healing of the world.
