Luke 1:26-31
In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. And he came to her and said, “Greetings, favoured one! The Lord is with you.” But she was much perplexed by his words and pondered what sort of greeting this might be. The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favour with God. And now, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will name him Jesus.
Conception
that moment between eons of planning
and the beginning of fruition
A moment in which
it all comes together but is not finished
A moment that signals
the next stage of the journey
The end of one phase
giving way to another
Our lives are filled
with moments of conception
How will we live into the awareness of those moments
embracing all that is to come?
How will we nurture
what is planted in us
nurturing it through gestation
all the way to birth?
How will we endure the stretch marks
and the birth pangs?
How will we cultivate the grace to respond
“Let it be to me according to your word”
