Psalms 95:6-8
O come, let us worship and bow down,
let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker!
For he is our God,
and we are the people of his pasture,
and the sheep of his hand.
O that today you would listen to his voice!
Do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah,
as on the day at Massah in the wilderness,
Stubbornness and bitterness
have a way of lingering
Hanging around long after we’ve forgotten
how or why we allowed them space
Tainting relationships
Spoiling intentions
When we take time out
there is the possibility
of relaxing our minds
and softening our hearts
the prospect of moving beyond
our hurt and disillusionment
interrupting their hold on us
Until our spirit is freed
to embrace hope and trust
To love God and our neighbour
May it be so.
