A guid new year

Seeing the new year in on the wild and beautiful Isle of Tiree in the Inner Hebrides. Letting the peace and the space - and the sand - soak in, washing away the winter debris. Experiencing four seasons in one day and enjoying the comfort of Millhouse Hostel and the wonderful hospitality of friends. Hopefully this revitalising launch into the new year will bode well for all that is to come - opportunities, challenges, tough decisions, moving on, resting, healing, loving, forgiving. What lies ahead we do not know but we give thanks for the present and make the most of this place of mystery, majesty and the omnipotent Spirit of God. Wishing you a good new year.

  1. Hey Liz - this is uncanny...

Tiree is one of FBL's family's favourite places! Rosie had loads of childhood holidays there, we got engaged there, and have been back twice with the kids. I was seriously thinking about applying for the charge a couple of years ago before we came to St Hacket's. Just felt it was a little too remote for us. There's no better place to get away from it all.

We're friends with an artist - Frances Walker, who does a lot of her work on the island and owns a wee thatched cottage near Balevulin Beach. If your kids know the Katie Morag books, the lady artist is Frances, and our claim to fame is that we've been in the Lady Artist's house!

I'm sure you've had a blessed time - hope you can carry some of that peace with you back to Inverkip.

    Blessings

    FBL

  2. Hey, how spooky is that? We've been coming here for over 20 years. I felt called to ministry while holidaying here, our first child was conceived here .. its a special place for our family too. In fact in the early 90s I led a summer mission team here for a couple of years and did lots of supply while training. And talking of celebs. - we've met big Morag from high road on the island.
A good place for escape and recharging.

  3. fbl, just remembered, led a retreat at the hostel with folks from the parish - that was really special - might be a fun idea for the new year.
