Matthew 15:25-28
But she came and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, help me.” He answered, “It is not fair to take the children’s food and throw it to the dogs.” She said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.” Then Jesus answered her, “Woman, great is your faith! Let it be done for you as you wish.” And her daughter was healed instantly.
Lord, if you offered us only crumbs
that would be enough
But you go way beyond in your abundance
You fling wide the gates
Dismantle the barriers
Disrupt the systems
Demolish the boundaries
that keep any from your infinite love
And you call us to join you in subverting
everything that seeks to draw a line
or set up exclusion zones
Open our hearts and our minds
to be as inclusive
and affirming
as keepers of faith today.
